Wanted: Live/Work on Farm in Exchange for Housing
Hi! We are a young family of 4 seeking to live and work on a farm in exchange for free or reduced rent housing. We are environmentally conscious and passionate about local and organic farming!

I love working close to the land and am capable of doing all basic farm chores from weeding, planting, and harvesting to feeding animals, cleaning stalls and barns, turning out and bringing in animals, whatever work is needed and helpful! I can easily lift up to 50 pounds or more, so hay bales and feed sacks, etc shouldn't be an issue.

My husband works a full time job in Fairfield so we would prefer to be within 30 miles or so of that area. He is skilled in carpentry, some electrical work, computers, creating and maintaining websites, and is a general all around handyman! He would be available to work around the farm during the evenings and on weekends.

We homeschool our 2 young children (ages 3 and 7) and can't imagine a better life lesson than working and living on a farm, learning about sustainability, ecology, and where their food comes from! They are both animal lovers, very gentle and nurturing. They also love being in the dirt, planting seeds and seeing them grow. I'm sure they would both love to take part in whatever farm chores they are able to, helping us with ours, or playing nearby while we work.

Ideally we would love to commit to at least one year, hopefully more! This would be a once in a lifetime experience for us, something we believe would enrich our lives and allow us to do meaningful work for local farmers and the community. If you're interested or have any further questions, please feel free to call!

Peace,
Kim and Joe Sokoloski
